10681918686_d345065498_zChicago based American singing sensation Miles Simmons of  “The Miles Simmons Trio” brings his talents back to Chi-Town and is slowly making waves in the vocal jazz community performing at local venues and private events. He spends six months a year traveling to central Europe and tours with established Italian based country/rock/funk band, Granny Says and his jazz trio with sister Lisa Simmons and pianist Marco Cremeschini, The Downbeat Trio.  A ten year veteran of The United States Army Band, “Pershing’s Own” in Washington, D.C., Miles has sung for President Barack Obama and the First Lady at the White House, President George and Laura Bush, and President Bill and Hillary Clinton. In addition, he has sung back up for several luminaries which include: John Secada, Natalie Cole, Kenny Rogers, LeAnn Womack, Wynona Judd, American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Michael Feinstein, Candice Glover, Clint Holmes, Tony Danza, Sylvia McNair, and most recently Renee Fleming at the internationally broadcast 2014 Super Bowl XLVIII. He is also a veteran of the theater having toured in U.S. national tours such as “The Original Broadway Swing”, “Five Guys Named Moe”, “Ain’t Misbehavin”,  and ” Smokey Joe’s Cafe” and spent two years with “Miss Saigon” in Stuttgart, Germany.

His collaboration with Granny Says blends perfectly, his soulful bluesy style (As the Seattle Times says  “Simmons has a voice that stretches from church to the bedroom in a leap” ) with the cool country rock that the critically acclaimed Granny Says artists are known for. Mixing original tunes and a few covers, both musical entities have united for what seems to be an unstoppable musical force throughout Europe.

The country-rock author project Granny Says began in Brescia in the summer of 2005 with the collaboration of Henry Sauda, Arcangelo “Arki” Buelli and Simone Boffa. They have since been joined by bassist Giorgio Marcelli. A classic contemporary blues quartet formation (two guitars, bass and drums) they present a fully original repertoire of their own compositions mixed with classic blues covers, with sounds influenced by the blues but in constant search of new colors rock, pop, jazz and contaminations set free from classic idioms. The band boasts vast experience on big stages opening for internationally well-known artists such as: Scott Finch, Paolo Bonfanti and Jono Manson, John Popper (Blues Traveler), Robben Ford,Rudy Rotta Sugar Blue, Nine Below Zero, Eugene Hideaway Bridges, Tishamingo, John Mayall.Andy J.Forrest, John Campbell John, Eric Sardinas.

La collaborazione con la Granny Says permette di fondere perfettamente il suo stile blues soul (Come il Seattle Times dice “Simmons ha una voce che va dalla chiesa alla camera da letto in un salto”) con il fresco country rock di cui i Granny Says sono famosi.

Mescolando brani originali e qualche covers, entrambe le entità musicali si sono unite per quello che sembra essere una forza musicale inarrestabile in tutta Europa.
